Lucent takes JUNIPER together to do the backbone network dilatation for China UNICOM

　　Lucent Technologies and Juniper network company announced a few days ago, as one of most heavy service supplier China UNICOM would dispose key datum network solution that Lucent and Juniper developed jointly in order to expand its national multi business backbone network.

　　At agreement, Lucent Technologies will offer the key solution of MPLS to China UNICOM, in order to build new generation network that can operate ATM, Frame Relay and IP services on it and offer matching in excellence or beauty to ATM quality of network at the same time. After the solution is disposed and finished, China UNICOM can face the enterprise customer and offers many kinds of services through the MPLS network that has cost-effective even more.

　　This agreement is the one of serial contracts what Lucent signed with China UNICOM. The total amount of the serial contracts is over 350 million dollars.

　　The construction of China UNICOM national and multi-business backbone network began in 1999, It is expected to become the one of domestic most heavy integrations transmit network. This backbone network offers various services in 330 main cities in the whole country, included ATM, frame relay, Internet accessing, VoIP, video conference, CDMA1X, digital paging service, billing and office automation service, etc.
