Polycom upgrading software 7.0 for its VSX products

  Polycom, Inc., the world leading communication solutions provider, announced recently that it planned to provide software 7.0 specially designed for the Polycom VSX videoconference products. The new software is characterized by "surround" stereophonic sound, outstanding conference telephone and video system integration. It can support a videoconference, or add an audio-frequency conversation into the videoconference, and has the first video-based support system for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

  This integrated solution not only provides a common-used phone-dialing interface, but also provides the videoconference techniques. It makes a full use of the investment made by the users into the SoundStation VTX conference telephone system and Polycom VSX video system to make it possible for them to realize integrated communications through software upgrading.

  Polycom is a pioneer in this field who integrated IP voice, video, Web and data communications for SIP.

Ofcom, The Britain telecom regulator plans to develop markets for VoIP calls

  The United Kingdom telecommunications industry regulator said it is still a difficult decision to make to help develop the market for VoIP calls.

  Ofcom has already begun the preparations for VoIP services in Britain.
Ofcom anticipated that, the broad band Internet-based phone call will bring great convenience to the consumers, for it makes it possible for these consumers to get access to the services such as complicated information services, video telephone and large-scale telephone conference.

  Ofcom also announced that it would make public discussions on how to resolve the problems on the functionality and reliability of the VoIP services.
