IDC: the 10 trend forecasting on the development of telecom industry
in the Asia-Pacific region (except for Japan) in 2005
According to the trend forecasting made by IDC (International
Data Corporation) on the development of telecom industry in the Asia-Pacific
region (except for Japan) in 2005, converging networks will catch the
attention of operators, enterprises and common consumers.
Following is the 10 trend forecasting made by IDC on the development
of telecom industry in the Asia-Pacific region (except for Japan) in 2005:
1 More interest in the Pay TV service provided through the Broadband
Networks
2. Voice over IP (VoIP) more attracting for general users
3. Wireless Broadband
4. Fixed-Mobile Convergence
5. Wireless enterprises gaining energy for development
6. 'Multifunctional' Switches
7. Enterprise IP Telephony
8. Will the Near Field Communications, NFC-make another step in 2005?
9. Service providers will have more interest in Managed Services
10.The first step made in entering the household market
IDC anticipates that at the beginning of 2005 the providers of equipment
and services will pay more attention to Digital Home, which involves solutions
such as home network (including home automation), home security system,
health care service (e.g. remote video medical consultation), infotainment
(e.g.VOD), network broadcasting and network games.

Frost & Sullivan announced recently that Alcatel has gained the
"Market Leadership Award 2004" granted by Frost & Sullivan
to confirm the leadership of the Alcatel's IP solutions on the European
market of IP PBX switch. Alcatel ranks the first on the European market
of IP-support and IP-PBX.
