AOL and Microsoft intend to provide VoIP service to realize communications between PC and telephone

It is reported that AOL department of Times Warner and Microsoft announced on Tuesday that they intended to provide VoIP service respectively.

AOL says that it will provide VoIP service"TotalTalk Net" on Oct. 4 this year. With the AIM Triton software provided by AOL, the subscribers can communicate, send/receive e-mails and instant messages with PC or household telephone. AOL says that it will release the upgraded version of IM software this week. Meanwhile, Microsoft and Qwest says that they are making efforts to improve the VoIP technique to provide better service to SMBs (small and middle-sized enterprises). Before this SBC and Skype (acquired by eBay recently) have provided VoIP service.

Infineon experiencing a rapid growth of VoIP business

Infineon announced today that from 2003 to 2004 the sales of VoIP terminal products was increased by 300%, much more than the average growth rate on the market (according to the data from iSuppli 2005). Thus, Infineon's position was also improved from the 10th in 2003 to the 5th in 2004. Infineon says that it has rich experience in the field of traditional POTS, and the xDSL solution and the VoIP solution, will be combined to provide to the operators and manufacturers. Infineon will demonstrate the integrated VoIP solution on the VON exhibition to be held from 19 to 20 of this month.

Roytel constructing the customer service system of Novell China technical support center

Recently, Novell established "Novell China Technical Support Center" in Shenzhen. It is aimed to provide all-day-long technical support for Linux products, and provide better localized service to the customers in China. It is a key step made by Novell after it declared the investment plan in China.
