Asia: output value of VoIP service will be doubled in 2009

According to the latest foreign news, market research company In-Stat released a report recently, which says that from 2004 to 2009 Asian VoIP telephone market will probably grow from 5,500,000,000 USD to 10,000,000,000 USD

In-Stat says that in 2004, 85.4% of the income from VoIP service are from the change of telephone network in traditional public institutes. In-Stat also points out that most of the in-coming calls are from traditional telephone network.

Considering that there has been 8,700,000 local VoIP telephone lines in Asia, In-Stat says that in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore there have been a certain amount of long-distance phone calls transferred to Internet platform

For example, in China, telecom companies will resist Skype's software service, such as SkypeOut, to protect the long-distance business. According to the current telecom regulations of P.R.C., the PC-to-Telephone call services are strictly restricted. Only China Telecom and China Netcom are allowed to test such service in a limited scope. Liu says that in China the service providers won't allow their competitors to provide VoIP service, therefore, the market won't develop quickly. In-Stat forecasts that in 2009 there will be over 20,000,000 VoIP users in Asia.

Panasonic providing new telephone to support Skype's VoIP service

According to the latest foreign news, Panasonic Communications announced on Tuesday (local time) that it signed a contract with Skype to jointly develop a kind of cordless telephone that can use the latest VoIP service of Skype.

Analyst says that Skype needs to improve the service to attract major users. Although it has already have 70,000,000 registered users, Skype still need to expand the market. With only the PC-to-PC VoIP service, Skype will only have a small market share. Considering the price offered by eBay for the acquisition, Skype must expand its own market to enhance the reputation right now.
