SMS business brings a daily income of over 100,000,000 RMB

April 25, latest news from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII): in the first quarter of this year, SMS business experienced the highest record in the history, with 98820000000 short messages totally being sent (daily traffic: 1098000000 short messages; daily income: over 100,000,000 RMB).
MII released the latest statistics data on SMS in the first quarter of the year. After years of growth, SMS is still growing dramatically. The data shows that in the first quarter of the year, the business experienced an increase of 47% than that in the last year.
MII says that fast growth of the business in the first quarter of the year is because of the New Year's Day when people send more SMs for greetings. The data shows that in the first quarter China has got an income of 169250000000 RMB from postal and telecom services, an increase of 11.8% than that in the last year.
At present SMS is one of the major channels for domestic operators to earn money. China Mobile disclosed its business income of the last year, which shows that the income from SMS amounted to 24600000000 RMB, accounting for over 10% of the total. Value-added services, including SMS, color ring and WAP, is growing very fast.
