Start-up Provides Low Cost, Plug-and-Play VoIP Solutions for Small-to-medium Businesses and Service Providers
Anta Systems, Inc., a developer of affordable, turnkey Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solutions, today announced the company has successfully completed $2.4 Million in Series A financing. The investors in this funding round include venture capital firms, strategic partners and private investors from the U.S., Japan, Korea and Greater China, including Daehong Corporation, Eastar, Global Alliance and Versatile Venture. The funding will enable Anta Systems to further expand its sales and marketing, engineering and operations initiatives as the company prepares to launch its products into the U.S. market in Q2 2004.
Entrepreneurs founded Anta Systems in January 2003 and provided seed money for product and company creation. In just over a year, the Anta Systems team, which consists of experts from the voice communications, data networking and network security industries, has developed an innovative end-to-end Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based VoIP solution designed to help small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and service providers reduce the cost and complexity of VoIP deployment.
“Anta Systems is a unique Silicon Valley startup that is well-positioned to capitalize on the huge VoIP market”, said Roy Knoth, Chief Operation Officer of Calcor Exim Corporation, an affiliate of Daehong Corporation. “Within 10 months of its inception, Anta Systems was able to deliver a product that was fully accepted and paid for by a leading competitive carrier in China. Anta Systems already has a solid pipeline of customer trials and we anticipate continued momentum as it rolls out its products in the U.S. and other markets.”

The Anta management team is made up of seasoned voice and data communications professionals from startups and Fortune 1000 companies. Co-founder and President Frank Ip has more than 10 years of experience in networking, security and communication infrastructures at ServGate Technologies, Netscreen Technologies and Silicon Graphics. Martin Luu, Co-founder and VP of Engineering, has extensive experience in software engineering and product development in VoIP, softswitch, SS7 signaling, SONET and the SIP protocol at Ascend, Nuera, Network Equipment Technologies (net.com) and others. Co-founder and VP of Sales and Marketing David Tang is a seasoned marketing and sales professional, having spent more than a decade delivering VoIP and broadband networking technologies on behalf of companies including SBC Communications, BayPackets, and Scientifc Atlanta for the enterprise and carrier markets.
