Comdial: Demand Flat For Mid-Sized Business Telecom
Comdial issued
a mid-quarter update on the changing conditions in the telecommunications market.
William Mustain, Comdial's President and CEO, said, "We are seeing a decline in
demand for our communications solutions products in the small to mid-sized business
market. We attribute this to two key factors: the first is a post-Y2K slowdown
and the second is overall market uncertainty about next-generation technology.
The Phillips Group, a leading market research firm, recently issued a report indicating
they also expected flat to declining conditions in the small to mid-sized business
market for the next several quarters for the same reasons."

Study Details US CC Wages
According to a recent survey of 771 US call
centers the 186 managers who participated stated that the average hourly wage
of top-paid full-time agents ranged from $6.90 to $40 (median $15). The five most
competitive industries for top-paid agents' hourly wages who paid $15 and up were
Computers (91%), Manufacturing (86%), Healthcare (63%), Insurance (62%), and Telecommunications
(62%), which may suggest when correlated with other salary data from the survey
that businesses in these industries value agents once they are fully trained in
the company's products/services. The study was conducted by a division of Incoming
Calls Management Institute.

Symon Communications,
which specializes in real-time communications, messaging systems and alerting
solutions, announced an agreement whereby OmniContact will distribute their products
in French-speaking markets in Europe. OmniContact's products span Workforce Management,
eCRM and CTI with a suite of services ranging from initial analysis of a client's
needs to installation, implementation and training of end users at the client
site. OmniContact also offers hotline support and consulting services to meet
specific client requirements.

Telstra To Put 9000 CC Staff in Australia
Telstra Corp. is expected to
spend $A350 million ($US199.32 million) on a new rural business unit in Albury-Wodonga
on the Victorian-NSW border by the end of the year, The Australian Financial Review
reported. It was also expected also announce plans on Sunday to put 9,000 call
center staff in regional Australia. The business unit's headquarters, also located
in Albury-Wodonga, would be run by four managing directors who would oversee a
series of 26 rural zones, the report said.
