Engineering Manager (1 hire)

  Spark is looking for a highly technical, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our Shanghai based team of hardware, software and mechanical engineers.

Main Responsibilities:

  The new engineering manager will manage all engineering operations for the Shanghai development team. Ensuring that products are designed or re-designed, or new product lines introduced, in order to meet quality and sales objectives. Will maintain economical production methods and recommend changes, review progress, and approve cost estimates or proposals. Oversee design activities, determine the sequence of production operations, and determine equipment and tooling requirements. Analyze production methods to ensure time and cost objectives are met.

  The engineering manager demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be the top level contributor/specialist. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

  Writes product requirement documents, implements and tracks development timelines, negotiates feature sets with the developers and product. Generally manages a group of software hardware developers/engineers. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Reports to VP of Engineering Spark.

Requirements:

  • Very high technical competence and strong academic record.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience managing software and hardware development teams.
  • 4+ years of relevant hands-on technical experience, and a record of individual technical achievement.
  • Strong understanding of consumer product development, Skilled in leading projects.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese.
BS required, MS / Ph.D. a plus.

Embedded Software Engineers ( 9 hires)
  Spark is looking for experienced embedded software developers.

Main Responsibilities:
  Main Software engineers will design, code and test the software for next generation CellStik's and support for the compatible cell phones. These resources will play a key role helping to create schedules and plan for development. The Embedded Engineers, under the guidance of the Engineering Lead and the Senior Embedded Engineers will investigate, specify, design, code and test the CPM's required for CellStik to support the cell phones specified by Spark Marketing. This will require experience in C, ARM7, assembly and the use of data analyzers, meters and oscilloscopes.

Basic Description:
  Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements embedded software. Participates in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related area and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; reports to the Engineering Lead. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Requirements:

  • Embedded experience required
  • Experience with Micrium uC/OS a big plus
  • Experience with IAR development system a plus.
  • Experience with Arm7
  • BS required, MS a plus.

Hardware Design Engineers (5 hires)

  Spark Technology is looking for digital hardware design engineers with experience designing and building low cost volume consumer product.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Designing digital communications circuits like USB, UART, PWM.
  • Candidate must be experienced designing communication circuitry using mixed signal data converter (A/D and D/A), OP AMP and digital support circuitry for interface with microprocessor control logic.
  • Performing noise analysis and PCB layout analysis for susceptibility to noise, interference, and EMI issues.
  • Interfacing with digital, firmware, and software engineers.
  • Developing schematics using OrCAD, Protel or Allegro, directing PCB layout in PowerPCB or Allegro design environment, board stack-ups and board level bring up, debug and design validation, resolving EMI/RFI and ESD issues.
  • Digital and analog simulation experience a plus.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Arm7 a plus
  • Should be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the high technology industry.
  • Desire to work in start up environment where flexibility and willingness to do whatever is required to accomplish the company objectives is essential.
  • Experience designing low cost volume product.
  • Experience with consumer product a plus.
  • Hands on use of high speed oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • 4 years digital design experience

BS required, MS a plus.

QRT Test Engineers (3 hires)

  Spark is looking for experienced Quality Reliability and Test (QRT) engineers.

Main Responsibilities:

  QRT Engineers are responsible for engineering design quality and are required to write and execute the QRT tests to validate all new designs. This role is key to the success of Spark engineering and is run independent of software and hardware development with responsibility directly to the VP of Engineering.

Requirements:

  • Experience writing test procedures
  • Experience using data analyzers, meters and oscilloscopes.
  • Good written and comprehension of English.

BS required.
