Architecture Framework Whitepaper

This whitepaper describes an architecture including components and the manner in which they relate in the CT server environment. The framework is used as the basis for the ECTF view of evolution of CT systems, to provide a framework for developing interoperability agreements for various components, and to describe the work programs of the various ECTF working groups.

Administrative Services

This white paper describes a framework for managing CT service providers that conform with the S.100, S.200, and/or S.300 specifications. The paper addresses the particular concerns of CT systems with respect to system management and provides a roadmap for ECTF working groups in developing interoperability agreements to ensure they are complementary.

Administration Services API

This implementation agreement provides an effective way to develop CT server administration applications in an open environment. The agreement defines a client-server model in which administration applications use a collection of services to manage a CT server. It provides these services using an operating system independent API that can be extended to support custom APIs. The M.100 API enables applications to be portable from one M.100-based server to another.

ECTF Management Information Base (MIB)

The M.500 MIB specification establishes comprehensive administrative capability and allows users to deploy a rich set of computer telephony services using off-the-shelf hardware and component software. M.500 contains object specifications for vendors of both CT client and server platforms as well as software and hardware resource vendors. Vendors support the portion of the MIB relevant to their offering, and the administrator is then able to view and manage the entire CT system as a whole.

Application Interoperability Framework

The ECTF Application Interoperability Framework allows computer telephony applications to cooperate and interoperate. This document outlines the objectives and means to achieve low cost of CT application ownership and defines the architecture and the set of interfaces that achieve these goals.

The ECTF Call Control Model
This white paper describes a model for call control services for the CT environment. The model describes services and interfaces that fit within the CT Architecture Framework documented by the ECTF and which harmonize with CT media services as described by the ECTF S.100 agreement.

JTAPI Interoperability Agreement
This Interoperability Agreement specifies certain packages of JTAPI 1.3 as the portable, object-oriented, call control API of choice that meets the ECTF's architectural and interoperability criteria. The ECTF is a JTAPI "partner" in the Sun Java TM development process, and ECTF member companies have been deeply involved with the creation of JTAPI 1.3.

Call Center Reporting
This interoperability agreement addresses the need for easily gathering, consolidating and reporting call center data. R.100 presents standardized techniques for gathering data in a consistent manner to allow interoperability between different systems within a call center. R.100 defines common terminology for elements within the call center environment, minimum data sets to be available, a common tracking method from call initiation to conclusion regardless of number of segments, a method to eliminate multiple counting, a method for clock synchronization, and data structures.

Media Services APIs
Revision 2

This implementation agreement provides an effective way to develop CT applications in an open environment. The agreement defines a client-server model in which applications use a collection of services to allocate, configure, and operate hardware resources. It abstracts implementation details of call processing hardware and switch fabrics to enable portable applications to be written. It provides these services using an operating system independent API that can be extended to support custom APIs. The S.100 interface allows applications to be portable from one S.100-based platform to another.

Revision 1
This implementation agreement describes the ECTF S.410 Media Services API. S.410 is the Java TM language expression of an object oriented application programming interface for the ECTF Architecture. Java applications written to S.410 can interoperate with C applications written to S.100, and can share the same implementation servers. S.410 is incorporated into the Java Telephony API (JTAPI) version 1.3, as the package javax.telephony.media. A browsable HTML version of this specification can be downloaded from below.
